Grupo Orsa signs The Copenhagen Communiqué on Climate Changes

Last week, Grupo Orsa has signed the Copenhagen Communiqué on Climate Changes, international document which brings together 400 companies from all over the world and will be delivered next Tuesday (22) to the UN (United Nations) general-secretary, Ban Ki-Moon, in New York.

In the statement, the objectives and business position on the greenhouse gases issue are listed, on financial incentives for the green technologies development and other issues related to the global climate agreement, which will be discussed during the 15th Climate Conference, in December, at Copenhagen, Denmark.

Grupo Orsa’s president, Sergio Amoroso, signs the document with the CEOs from around the world and brazilian companies, such as Vale, O Boticário, Natura, Copagás and Energias do Brasil.


The document

In the statement, the business community asks for a “fair and robust global agreement” in Copenhagen, that ensures the temperature rise on the planet by the year 2100 will be a maximum of 2ºC.

To the developed countries, the letter recommendation is to commit to immediately reduce the greenhouse gases emission. To the developing countries, the statement suggests plans to emissions reduction in line with the capabilities and responsibilities of each other.

The goal of the Copenhagen summit is to obtain an agreement on climate before the first phase of the Kyoto Protocol expires in January 2013.
